The Winnipeg Jets have suffered a huge blow, as head coach Rick Bowness announced star defenceman Josh Morrissey will miss the remainder of their opening-round series against the Vegas Golden Knights with a lower-body injury he suffered early in Game 3.
Morrissey went to the locker-room favouring his right knee after a Golden Knights power play early in the first period.
Sportsnet's Ken Wiebe reported Morrissey returned to the bench appearing in discomfort after his first shift. He appeared to be hurt after taking a hit from Vegas defenceman Zach Whitecloud.
Morrissey was second among NHL defencemen with 76 points (16 goals, 60 assists) in 78 games this season.
The Golden Knights took a 2-1 series lead with a 5-4 win in double overtime.
