The Winnipeg Jets are postponing a ski-related promotion in the wake of a deadly fire at a ski resort in Switzerland.
The National Hockey League team was planning an "après-ski"-themed night for its home game against the Los Angeles Kings on Friday.
The first 5,000 fans were to receive ski goggles.
The club says it's pushing back the event to March 10, in recognition of the people killed and injured in the bar fire at a New Year's party in Switzerland.
Friday is a national day of mourning in Switzerland for the 40 people killed and 120 injured.
Investigators believe sparkling candles in champagne bottles started the fire in the resort town of Crans-Montana, when they came too close to the bar's ceiling.
Winnipeg's lineup includes Nino Niederreiter, a Swiss forward whose career has included stints with Nashville, Carolina, Minnesota and the New York Islanders.
"We join the world in honouring those lost and send our condolences to everyone affected," the Jets said in a statement Tuesday.
