With the NHL trade deadline looming, the Winnipeg Jets are sitting a couple of their trade chips.
Defencemen Luke Schenn and Logan Stanley will sit for Thursday's tilt against the Tampa Bay Lightning for roster management purposes, per Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Free Press.
Schenn, 36, was acquired by Winnipeg at the trade deadline last season. This year, he's posted a goal and six assists in 46 contests while logging 138 hits and 54 blocks.
The right-shot blue-liner is in the final year of a three-year deal with an average-annual value of $2.75 million.
Stanley is in the midst of a career-best offensive season with highs in goals (nine) and points (21). The 27-year-old also has 96 hits and will be a free agent at the end of the season. He carries a $1.25 AAV.
The Jets sit near the bottom of the Central Division with 58 points and are nine out of the final playoff spot. The trade deadline is at 3 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. CT on Friday.
