Joe Thornton fined $1,875 for slashing Lightning's Boris Katchouk

Joe Thornton was called for a slashing penalty after spearing Boris Katchouk between the legs.

Florida Panthers centre Joe Thornton has been fined $1,875, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for slashing Tampa Bay Lightning forward Boris Katchouk.

The incident occurred in the final minutes of the first period on Tuesday night as Thornton was assessed a two-minute minor for slashing on the play.

The Panthers went on to defeat the Lightning 4-1.
