Winnipeg Jets fans may have to wait a little longer for their hometown hero to debut.
Jonathan Toews remains day-to-day with an undisclosed injury, head coach Scott Arniel told reporters on Tuesday.
Arniel added that he is "hoping" Toews will be ready in time for the team's home and season opener on Thursday against the Dallas Stars.
Toews, 37, suffered the injury during a pre-season game against the Minnesota Wild earlier in October.

Tuesday marked the third pre-season game that Toews has played. The three-time Stanley Cup champ has been skating on a line with wingers Cole Perfetti and Nino Niederreiter.
