Andreas Athanasiou is joining the Los Angeles Kings on a one-year deal, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports.

The deal is expected to pay Athanasiou $1.2 million, Friedman adds. The 26-year-old joins Los Angeles after splitting last season with the Detroit Red Wings and Edmonton Oilers.

In 55 games last campaign, Athanasiou had 11 goals and 26 points, and went without a point during the NHL's return to play. In 303 career games, the Woodbridge, Ont., native has 84 goals and 156 points.

Athanasiou was previously selected in the fourth round of the 2012 NHL Draft by the Detroit Red Wings.
