Los Angeles Kings defenceman Drew Doughty suffered no ligament damage to his knee after a collision with Dallas Stars defenceman Jani Hakanpaa, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reports.
It is not known how long Doughty will be out of the lineup as he will require further imaging once the Kings return from their current road trip.
Hakanpaa was skating towards Doughty before there was a knee-on-knee collision. After video review, Hakanpaa was called for a major and game misconduct for colliding into Doughty’s right knee.
According to Matthew DeFranks of The Dallas Morning News, Hakanpaa will not receive further discipline for the hit.
Doughty needed help off the ice and did not return.
The two-time Stanley Cup champion and Norris Trophy winner has one goal and six assists through seven games played during the 2021-22 season.
