Nearly seven years after the first attempt, Vladimir Tkachyov has signed an entry-level deal in the NHL.
The Los Angeles Kings announced Saturday that they’ve agreed to a one-year, $832,500 contract with the 25-year-old forward, who led the KHL’s SKA St. Petersburg with 38 points in 45 games this season.
The native of Omsk, Russia, who previously used the spelling “Tkachev” of his last name, signed a three-year, entry-level deal with the Edmonton Oilers in 2014, but it was ruled ineligible because he was undrafted and needed to play a full year in North America.
The five-foot-10, 170-pound forward has put up 185 points in 254 career KHL games across seven seasons with St. Petersburg, Ufa Salavat Yulayev, Vladivostok Admiral and Omsk Avangard.
He also recorded 79 points in 66 QMJHL games with the Moncton Wildcats and Quebec Ramparts.
