The Seattle Kraken are adding some championship pedigree to their crease.
Goaltender Matt Murray has agreed to terms on a one-year, $1-million deal with the Kraken, the team announced Tuesday at the start of the NHL's free agency period.
Murray, 31, has spent the last three seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He started two games between the pipes last season, finishing with a 3.54 goals-against average and a .879 save percentage.
He also made 21 regular-season starts with the Marlies in the American Hockey League, notching a 10-5-4 record with a 1.72 GAA and a .934 save percentage.
The Thunder Bay, Ont. native is a two-time Stanley Cup winner, earning both while playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2016 and 2017. He finished with a 1.70 GAA and a .937 save percentage in the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs at only 22 years old.
Murray now joins a Kraken goaltender depth chart rounded out by Philipp Grubauer and Joey Daccord.
