The Seattle Kraken were one defenceman short after Brandon Montour left the game early on Saturday.
By the start of the second period between the Kraken and Calgary Flames, Montour had left the bench.
The Kraken later confirmed he would not return to the game after experiencing an upper-body injury.
It's unclear when or how the injury occurred.
The 30-year-old defenceman has 10 goals and 17 assists in 55 games played this season. He was signed last summer by the Kraken at the start of free agency.
