One of the top prospects for the 2027 NHL Draft is heading to college.
Defenceman Landon DuPont has committed to the Michigan Wolverines for the 2026-27 season after two seasons in the WHL, he announced on social media Wednesday.
DuPont, 17, is coming off a WHL championship with the Everett Silvertips and an appearance in the Memorial Cup final. The five-foot-11, right-shot blueliner had 18 goals and 73 points in 63 games this season, then added 23 points in the playoffs and six more in the Memorial Cup.
The Calgary native was granted exceptional status into the WHL as a 15-year-old. In 2024-25, he had 17 goals and 60 points to win the WHL’s rookie of the year award.
Now, DuPont will make the jump to the NCAA to further his development ahead of the NHL Draft.
