Brayden Point's availability for the Olympics is up in the air.
Tampa Bay Lightning head coach Jon Cooper said Point is week-to-week with a lower-body injury but added that he "avoided the worst-case scenario."
"His season is not over," Cooper added.
Point exited Monday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers after sustaining the injury while scoring a goal in the second period.
He did not take another shift and was ruled out for the remainder of the game at the start of the third period.
The incident occurred less than five minutes into the period with Tampa Bay on the power play.
Point, stationed in front of the net, corralled a rebound and put a backhand past Flyers goaltender Dan Vladar. However, as he scored the goal, his right leg got tangled up with defenceman Cam York. Point immediately grabbed at his knee and had to be helped back to the bench, then back to the locker room.
The 29-year-old has had a solid year for the Bolts, tallying 11 goals and 19 assists in 36 games. He missed some time in November with an undisclosed injury.
A native of Calgary, Point was named to Team Canada's roster for the Olympic Winter Games in Milano Cortina. The Canadian team is expected to fly to Italy on Feb. 7 and play its first game on Feb. 12.
Sam Bennett, Connor Bedard, Wyatt Johnston, Mark Scheifele, Seth Jarvis and Travis Konecny are among the forwards on the reserve list, according to a report from The Athletic.
