The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed defenceman Sean Day to a one-year, two-way contract, general manager Julien BriseBois announced Thursday.
Day will have a salary cap hit of $750,000 at the NHL level and $200,000 at the AHL level, according to CapFriendly.
The 24-year-old, who was born in Belgium, was signed as a free agent by the Lightning in July 2020 and has appeared in two games for the club, both in December 2021, where he logged a total of four hits in nearly 21 minutes on ice.
He has appeared in 98 games for the Lightning's AHL affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch, where he had 11 goals and 55 points in his two seasons with the team.
Day was drafted in the third round by the New York Rangers, 81st overall, at the 2016 NHL Draft. The Rangers placed him on unconditional waivers in May 2020.
