The Tampa Bay Lightning are keeping one of their top enforcers around.
Forward Scott Sabourin has re-signed with the Bolts on a one-year, two-way contract, the team announced Saturday.
The financial terms of the deal were not announced.
The 33-year-old played in only 26 games at the NHL level last season, tallying one goal and four assists, but finished with 89 penalty minutes.
While not the most productive piece on the Lightning, Sabourin was routinely called up from the AHL's Syracuse Crunch to bring a more physical edge to the lineup.
A six-foot-three native of Orleans, Ont., Sabourin debuted in the NHL in the 2019-20 season with the Ottawa Senators. He has played parts of six seasons in the NHL with the Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs, San Jose Sharks and the Lightning, tallying three goals and 10 assists in 73 games.
He has spent the majority of his career in the AHL, beginning in the 2012-13 season with the Manchester Monarchs, the Los Angeles Kings' minor-league affiliate.
