Bolts fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
Tampa Bay Lightning head coach Jon Cooper told media Thursday that he expects starting goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy to resume practising Monday and be ready to play by their season opener.
Vasilevskiy, 31, has not participated in any of the last five organized practice sessions the Lightning have held and will not play in either of Tampa's pre-season games on Friday or Saturday.
Last Friday, Cooper had said the superstar Russian would hopefully only be out for a week. What is keeping him out exactly has not been disclosed.
"He's just going through some treatments and stuff that, you know, it's player management," the coach told reporters.
Over his 63 appearances last season, Vasilevskiy posted a 2.18 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage, his best stats in several seasons.
Meanwhile, although Brayden Point and Pontus Holmberg were also absent from practice on Thursday, Cooper said there is no cause for concern with either of them.
