Tampa Bay Lightning forward Alex Killorn has been suspended one game by the NHL Department of Player Safety for boarding New York Islanders centre Brock Nelson in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final on Wednesday.
The ruling means Killorn will miss Friday’s Game 3.
The incident took place at 5:55 of the first period as Killorn hit Nelson into the boards well after the latter had already played the puck. Killorn was assessed a major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct. Nelson left the game for some time but eventually returned.
The Lightning lead the best-of-seven series 2-0 heading into Game 3, which gets underway Friday night at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
