It's been a busy 24 hours for Tampa Bay Lightning forward Scott Sabourin.
After being handed a fine earlier in the day, Sabourin was knocked out of Sunday's game against the Montreal Canadiens after taking on Arber Xhekaj in a first-period heavyweight tilt.
Sabourin was sent to the ice by a big right hand from Xhekaj during the fight and immediately went down the tunnel to the Tampa Bay locker room.
The 33-year-old winger had to be supported by officials as he skated off the ice.
He did not return to the Tampa Bay bench for the second period and was ruled out by the team shortly after the third period got underway.
Sabourin had played just 2:20 before dropping the gloves and leaving. He entered the contest with one goal and three points in eight games on the season.
He was fined $2,018.23 by the NHL for slashing Florida Panthers' Niko Mikkola during yet another feisty Battle of Florida. Panthers forward Anton Lundell was also given a $5,000 fine for high-sticking Jake Guentzel.
The punishments came after Saturday's 4-2 Lightning win that saw a combined 136 penalty minutes between the two teams. Both teams set season-highs for penalty minutes — by far. Tampa Bay finished with 87, Florida finished with 49.
