Tampa Bay Lightning star Steven Stamkos and Philadelphia Flyers forward Oskar Lindblom are among the new names on the NHL’s COVID-19 Protocol list, the league announced Friday.
Stamkos was a late scratch for the Lightning’s game against the Florida Panthers on Thursday. The team said its captain was day-to-day with a lower-body injury. He has 14 points in 11 games for the Lightning this season.
Stamkos tweeted later Friday that it is suspected he received a false positive COVID-19 test and thanked fans for their support.
Thx to everyone who has reached out. At this time we suspect a false positive test. Hopefully that’s the case, and I will be back on the ice in the next couple of days . Until then I will continue to follow the NHL Covid list protocols. https://t.co/TWDEE9Zrfx

Lindblom and fellow Flyers forward Scott Laughton, meanwhile, join teammates Justin Braun, Morgan Frost, Claude Giroux and Travis Sanheim on the NHL’s COVID-19 list.
The 24-year-old Lindblom is less than two months removed from being declared cancer-free after a year-long battle with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer.
Lindblom returned to the ice in the summer bubble and has four points in 13 games this season.
