The Tampa Bay Lightning had to play the majority of Thursday's game without their captain.
Victor Hedman exited against the Vancouver Canucks following the first period with what head coach Jon Cooper described as an illness post-game.
"I'll let everybody know tomorrow," Cooper told reporters after the Lightning's 6-2 win. "He wasn't feeling well."
The defenceman was absent from the Lightning bench to begin the second frame and ultimately never returned, finishing the night with 4:44 of ice time.
Hedman already missed a good chunk of the season due to elbow surgery and has been limited to just 32 games.
The 35-year-old has posted a goal and 16 assists in his limited appearances.
