The Tampa Bay Lightning will not see their captain return for their win-or-go-home matchup against the Montreal Canadiens.
Victor Hedman will not play Game 7 on Sunday night, head coach Jon Cooper told reporters ahead of puck drop.
Ahead of Game 6, Cooper indicated Hedman could be an option if the series was extended.
The defenceman has not played since March 19.
The 35-year-old Swede — a Conn Smythe Trophy winner as playoff MVP in 2020 — took a temporary leave for personal reasons on March 25, rejoining the team early in the first-round series.
He was limited to 33 games in the regular season, posting one goal and 16 assists after also missing time due to elbow surgery and an undisclosed injury.
You can watch the do-or-die Game 7 on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ with coverage beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET / 2:30 p.m. PT.
