Madison Square Garden says a man who assaulted a Tampa Bay Lightning fan will be banned from the venue for life following a scary incident at the arena following Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final on Thursday.

In video that has circulated on social media, a man can be seen punching a Lightning fan at the conclusion of Tampa's win in a hallway.

The MSG statement says a second assault followed against an individual who intervened.

Multiple reports say a 29-year-old man from Staten Island, N.Y., was arrested and charged with two counts of assault, two counts of disorderly conduct and two counts of harassment.

"All guests -- no matter what team they support -- should feel safe and respected in The Garden. This has and always will be our policy," the statement said.
