The Utah Mammoth will be down a centre for some time.
The Mammoth are expecting to be without forward Alex Kerfoot for the next eight to 10 weeks after he underwent a successful procedure to repair a core muscle, general manager Bill Armstrong announced Friday.
Kerfoot missed training camp with a lower-body injury and was listed week-to-week to begin the season.
The 31-year-old was was placed on the injured reserve on Monday and it's unclear if the surgery was related to his previous ailment.
Kerfoot was selected 150th overall by the New Jersey Devils in 2012 and has posted 98 goals and 194 assists over 605 career games.
He scored 11 goals and added 17 helpers in 81 games with Utah last season and re-signed on a one-year, $3 million deal in March 2025.
The Mammoth sit third in the Western Conference with a 6-2-0 record and head to Minnesota to clash with the Wild on Saturday.
