Nick Schmaltz is staying in Utah.
The Mammoth forward signed an eight-year, $64-million contract extension, the team announced on Wednesday.
Schmaltz, 30, is enjoying a career year, already eclipsing his personal best with 24 goals in just 65 games. He also has 35 assists and with 59 points is on track to break his career high of 63, set last season.
“There was never a doubt that Utah is where I want to play the rest of my career and I’m thrilled to sign an eight-year extension,” Schmaltz said in a release. “We have a great core of players and I know we can do some special things together here in Utah."
Selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the first round of the 2014 draft, Schmaltz was traded to the Arizona Coyotes in 2018 in a deal for Dylan Strome and Brendan Perlini.
