Tij Iginla and Caleb Desnoyers are going to have to work their way up to the Utah Mammoth.
The two first-round picks have been sent to AHL Tucson, the Mammoth announced Friday.
Iginla was picked sixth overall in the 2024 draft, while Desnoyers went fourth overall last year.
Iginla, 20, and Desnoyers, 19, both played at the most recent world junior championship for Canada.
Iginla had 41 goals and 49 assists for 90 points in 48 games with the WHL's Kelowna Rockets last season, while Desnoyers notched 22 goals and 56 assists for 78 points in 45 games for the QMJHL's Moncton Wildcats.
Desnoyers was named MVP of the QMJHL in 2024-25 when he led the Wildcats to the league title.
Desnoyers wouldn't have been eligible for the AHL before this season. Under a new deal, NHL teams can send 19-year-old first-round picks from the CHL to the AHL.
Utah also sent goalie Michael Hrabal, the Hockey East player of the year last season at UMass, and forwards Yegor Borikov and Gabe Smith to their AHL affiliate.
Forwards Brandon Tanev and Joshua Roy, and defenceman Zac Jones have been placed on waivers for the purpose of being assigned to Tucson.
