The Utah Mammoth will have to make do without one of its most productive players for the foreseeable future.
Centre Logan Cooley will miss at least eight weeks due to a lower-body injury, Mammoth general manager Bill Armstrong announced on Thursday.
The 21-year-old suffered the injury in a win over the Vancouver Canucks last week, when he crashed into the net and hit his leg on the post.
Cooley had since missed three consecutive games due to injury before Thursday's announcement.
The former third-overall pick (2022) had yet to miss a game this season before the injury, logging 23 points and a plus-six mark through 29 appearances. His 14 goals lead the Mammoth, while he also ranks in the top five in points and plus-minus.
It's been a tough go for Utah without Cooley's production, as the team has lost three consecutive games since his absence, falling to 14-15-3 and fifth in the Central Division.
