The Toronto Maple Leafs may soon be getting an offensive boost.
Forward Max Pacioretty was activated off long-term injured reserve while defenceman Jake McCabe landed on IR, the team announced on Saturday.
Pacioretty, 36, has been out since early November with a lower-body injury that was initially described as week to week.
In 13 games with the Leafs, the ex-Canadiens captain has recorded two goals and four assists.
It's unclear whether Pacioretty will be back in the lineup when Toronto hosts Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday on Hockey Night in Canada (Sportsnet, 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT).
McCabe, meanwhile, was injured last Saturday against the Tampa Bay Lightning when he was struck in the head by a puck.
The veteran defenceman has five assists in 23 games for the Maple Leafs this season.
His placement on IR is retroactive to Nov. 30.
