As the Toronto Maple Leafs prepare for what they hope is a bounce-back season, fans now have an idea of how the journey will begin.
The Maple Leafs announced their 2026 pre-season schedule on Wednesday, a four-game slate between Sept. 19-23.
Toronto will play split-squad games against the Montreal Canadiens (Sept. 19) and the Ottawa Senators (Sept. 23), two of which will be in Toronto, while the other two will be played on the road.
The Maple Leafs have gone through a transformative off-season from the top down after finishing eighth in the Atlantic Division and snapping a nine-year streak of playoff appearances. Saying goodbye to former GM Brad Treliving and head coach Craig Berube as a result, while welcoming John Chayka and Jim Hiller as their respective replacements.
Toronto also reunited with franchise icon Mats Sundin, who rejoins the franchise as a senior executive advisor. On the ice, the Maple Leafs added forward Gavin McKenna with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 draft. And maybe most surprisingly, Ottawa legend Daniel Alfredsson joined rival Toronto as an associate head coach, leaving behind the franchise he spent 17 seasons with as a player.
