Chris Tanev is inching towards a return.
The Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman participated in his first full team skate on Monday since suffering an upper-body injury on Oct. 10.
Tanev wore a red no-contact sweater while taking part.
The 36-year-old was considered week-to-week after going down in a victory over the Colorado Avalanche earlier this month. He had one assist in six games before his injury.
A Tanev return would be beneficial to a Maple Leafs blue line struggling with injuries. Nick Blankenburg and Marshall Rifai, who were filling in for Tanev, were both placed on injured reserve last week.
Tanev has struggled to stay healthy over the past two seasons. He appeared in just 11 games last season due to multiple injuries and underwent season-ending core muscle surgery in March.
The Maple Leafs have won four straight games and will look to stretch that to five against the Calgary Flames on Monday Night Hockey on Sportsnet+ at 8:30 p.m. ET / 5:30 p.m. PT.
Sergei Bobrovsky is projected to get the start in net. The veteran goaltender is 3-3-2 this season with a 3.09 goals-against average and an .895 save percentage.
