The Toronto Maple Leafs have provided a little more clarity on Dakota Joshua's injury.
The forward has been dealing with a nagging core injury and is considered day-to-day, general manager John Chayka told reporters Wednesday.
Head coach Jim Hiller said Monday that Joshua was uncertain for next week's season opener because of an unspecified injury.
Joshua, 30, tallied 10 goals and eight assists in 55 games in his first year with the Leafs last season after joining the team in an off-season trade from the Vancouver Canucks.
Despite missing 27 games, Joshua led Toronto in hits with 195.
Over his six-year career, the Dearborn, Mich., native has 50 goals and 46 assists in 296 games split between the Leafs, Canucks and St. Louis Blues.
The Maple Leafs will get their season going on Sept. 29 when they host the Canadiens.
