David Kampf is sticking around the Toronto Maple Leafs organization.
Kampf cleared waivers on Saturday, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported.
The move to waive Kampf on Friday came at a curious time after fellow centre Scott Laughton was sidelined week-to-week with a lower-body injury.
Kampf skated on the third line with Max Domi and Dakota Joshua at practice on Saturday.
The 30-year-old has been with the Maple Leafs for the past four seasons, signing with the team as a free agent ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.
Last year, the Chomutov, Czechia, native tallied five goals and eight assists in 59 games with the Maple Leafs — all of which were lows in his four seasons with the club.
Over his eight-year career, the six-foot-two, 193-pound forward has 48 goals and 95 assists.
Defenceman William Villeneuve also cleared waivers Saturday allowing him to be assigned to the AHL's Toronto Marlies. The Leafs signed the 23-year-old defenceman to a one-year, two-way contract back in August.
