The Toronto Maple Leafs have made new additions to their front office staff with Jake Muzzin transitioning to a new role as a pro scout and Curtis McElhinney returning to the club as director of goaltending development and scouting.
The team also announced Monday that Chris Bourque will assume a new role as a college free-agent scout.
Muzzin last played in the NHL during the 2022-23 season making four appearances before suffering a season-ending back injury. The 34-year-old joined the Maple Leafs in 2019 after being acquired in a trade from the Los Angeles Kings.
Muzzin has played in 683 career regular season games with Toronto and Los Angeles winning a Stanley Cup with the Kings in 2014 and gold medals for Canada at the 2015 IIHF World Championship and the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
McElhinney was a former backup goaltender for the Maple Leafs from 2016-18. During a 16-year career in the NHL, the London, Ont., native won 94 games in 249 appearances and captured back-to-back Stanley Cups with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2020 and 2021.
