The Toronto Maple Leafs continue to reshape their hockey operations department.
Dan Palango has been hired as director of amateur scouting, Brad Rossen as vice president, research and development, and JP Perpich as director of U.S. amateur scouting, the team announced on Wednesday.
The additions are the latest moves under general manager John Chayka as the organization continues to build out its scouting and analytics departments. Toronto previously added Judd Brackett as an assistant general manager, player evaluation, on June 1.
Palango will take over the club’s amateur scouting department, replacing Mark Leach, who had held the position before the organization’s recent front-office changes. Palango worked with Brackett as an amateur scout with the Minnesota Wild and Vancouver Canucks.
Perpich joins the Leafs after spending the last six seasons with the Wild and will look to identify talent throughout the United States, including the NCAA, USHL and other development leagues.
Rossen spent the last four years as an NHLPA-certified agent with CAA and four seasons with the Arizona Coyotes as the director of statistical analysis. He also spent a year working as a statistics analyst with Stathletes, the company co-founded by Chayka.
The Leafs previously made sweeping changes to the organization with Hayley Wickenheiser, assistant GM Darryl Metcalf, senior advisor Dave Morrison and Leach among the personnel having left the team.
