Two Toronto Maple Leafs regulars won't be playing in games in the near future.
Defenceman Chris Tanev and forward Dakota Joshua are both expected to miss significant time, coach Craig Berube told reporters Wednesday.
Tanev suffered a groin injury Sunday against the Detroit Red Wings, Berube said.
Joshua is out with a kidney injury.
Captain Auston Matthews, who missed Tuesday's win over the New Jersey Devils with a lower-body injury, is expected to skate Thursday morning to determine if he can return at night against the Winnipeg Jets.
Fellow star forward William Nylander, who has missed the past two games with a lower-body injury, also could skate Thursday. He, too, is day-to-day.
Meanwhile, goalie Anthony Stolarz skated Wednesday for the first time since suffering an upper-body injury on Nov. 11.
Watch the Leafs-Jets game Thursday on Sportsnet or Sportsnet+ at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT.
