Another Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman has gone down.
Jake McCabe will miss about one week with a lower-body injury, head coach Craig Berube told reporters on Monday.
McCabe exited Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss against the New York Islanders with an undisclosed ailment and did not return.
The 32-year-old has 16 points (three goals, 13 assists) in 41 games this season for the Maple Leafs, who return to action Tuesday against the Florida Panthers (Sportsnet, Sportsnet+, 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT).
He joins fellow blue-liners Chris Tanev and Brandon Carlo on the shelf for the banged-up Maple Leafs, who also placed forward William Nylander on injured reserve earlier Monday.
Tanev, who is out long term with a lower-body injury, is considering surgery, per Berube. The ailment is not related to the upper-body injury that kept the veteran out of a large chunk of the first half of the season.
The Maple Leafs are last in the Atlantic Division at 19-15-7 with 45 points in 41 games.
