Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Jake Muzzin will miss the first week of training camp due to back discomfort, but head coach Sheldon Keefe says he isn't concerned.

Muzzin only played 47 games last season due to injury, but the Leafs blue-liner had three goals and 14 points in that span.

While Muzzin has a history of injury, he is a pillar for the team, helping keep pucks out of their net while being able to score himself like when he netted the opening goal of the Maple Leafs' postseason in 2022.

When injured, the absence of Muzzin is felt as he was a key playoff loss in the Maple Leafs' best-of-five qualifying round against the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2020, and again in Game 6 against the Montreal Canadiens in 2021.
