Toronto Maple Leafs forward Joe Thornton has been fined $3,017.24 by the NHL for interfering with Winnipeg Jets forward Mathieu Perreault, the maximum allowable under the collective bargaining agreement.

Thornton caught Perreault with a hit in the third period of Thursday's game between Toronto and Winnipeg. The 41-year-old was assessed a two-minute penalty for interference while Perreault was able to stay in the game.

The Jets also lost forward Adam Lowry who left the game after a high hit from Alex Galchenyuk who did not receive a penalty on the play.
