The Toronto Maple Leafs are close to having two of their stars back in the lineup.
According to head coach Sheldon Keefe, Morgan Rielly will be back for Wednesday's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, while Mitch Marner will target a return on the weekend.
"Morgan will be available for us tomorrow," Keefe told reporters Tuesday. "Mitch, we’ll feel it out and talk to him ... likely more of a target for the weekend."
After Wednesday's matchup against Tampa Bay, Toronto will enjoy two days off before returning to action on Saturday for a showdown with the Montreal Canadiens on Hockey Night in Canada.
Rielly, who has missed his last four games with an upper-body injury, skated the past two days.
Marner has missed 11 straight games with a suspected ankle injury, but did skate again on Tuesday.
Without them in the lineup, the Maple Leafs have won three games in a row and sit just four points back of the Florida Panthers for second in the Atlantic Division with one game in hand.
You can watch Rielly make his return to the lineup on Wednesday against a Lightning team that trails the Maple Leafs by just six points live on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT.
