Defenceman John Klingberg will have hip surgery at the end of the month and will be sidelined for the rest of the season, Toronto Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving told reporters on Wednesday.
Klingberg's $4.15-million salary will remain on Long-Term Injured Reserve (LTIR), potentially freeing up money for the Leafs to trade for another defenceman.
