Maple Leafs' Matthews out vs. Islanders with minor injury, listed day-to-day

Toronto Maple Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe informs media that Auston Matthews will not be in the lineup in the team's matchup against the New York Islanders with a minor injury, stating that the star forward is considered day-to-day for now.

Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe said that Auston Matthews will not play Sunday night against the New York Islanders.

The forward is listed as day-to-day with a minor injury sustained in Saturday's 5-4 overtime win over the Ottawa Senators. Keefe added that John Tavares will be bumped up to the top line to fill in for Matthews.

With seven games remaining in the campaign, Matthews is two goals away from notching his first career 60-goal season.
