Maple Leafs' Matthews wasn't feeling well, left Thursday's practice early

Auston Matthews left practice early, and Sheldon Keefe said he will get the rest of the day off as he wasn't feeling great after the Maple Leafs' game against the Oilers.

After logging 24:14 in a physical, 3-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers, Auston Matthews wasn't feeling well and left the Toronto Maple Leafs' Thursday practice early, coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters.

Keefe said further updates on Matthews' status will be provided Friday, when the Leafs face the Oilers in the latter half of their back-to-back.

With Matthews and veteran Joe Thornton -- who left Wednesday's game with an apparent injury and is expected to miss some time -- absent, Keefe mixed up the team's lines.

Matthews has two goals and three assists in five games this season.
