Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Pacioretty is out of the lineup day-to-day, head coach Craig Berube told reporters following Thursday's practice.
Pacioretty did not return for the third period of Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets due to a lower-body injury.
The 35-year-old has two goals in five games this season. He picked up his second goal Monday against the Tampa Bay Lightning after being a healthy scratch for the previous two games.
Pacioretty sustained Achilles injuries in each of the past two years, forcing him to miss large chunks of the seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes and Washington Capitals, respectively.
The Maple Leafs invited Pacioretty to camp on a professional tryout before he signed a one-year deal with the squad.
Toronto (4-3-0) hosts the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night.
