The Toronto Maple Leafs' blue line just got even thinner.
Defenceman Morgan Rielly is out through the Olympic break after aggravating a previous injury during the team's 3-2 shootout win over the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday, head coach Craig Berube told reporters on Monday.
Rielly still requires further evaluation, Berube said.
The 31-year-old left Saturday's contest after two periods due to an upper-body injury. It is unclear what caused the ailment.
The blue-liner was a minus-2 in 12:34 of ice time before he was forced to exit.
Rielly has seven goals and 24 assists in 53 games on the season.
Selected fifth overall by Toronto in the 2012 NHL Draft, Rielly has played his entire career with the Maple Leafs.
Toronto has a back-to-back set against the Calgary Flames on Monday and Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday before breaking for the Olympics. After Milan, the Maple Leafs return to the ice Feb. 25 against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
