The Toronto Maple Leafs are planning to start Matt Murray on Saturday against the Vancouver Canucks if the goaltender is medically cleared from an ankle injury, head coach Sheldon Keefe announced Friday.
Murray last played Jan. 17 and was placed on injured reserve Feb. 9. He was put on long-term injury reserve on Feb. 18 following the acquisitions of Ryan O'Reilly and Noel Acciari.
The 28-year-old has recorded a .911 save percentage and a 2.73 goals-against average with an 11-5-2 record in his 19 starts during the 2022-23 season.
The Maple Leafs acquired Murray in a summer deal with the Ottawa Senators.
