Athletes always want to play their best games when they're owed a new contract, and Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander is doing just that.
The 27-year-old Swede, who becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season, extended his point streak to 11 games after registering an assist Saturday in the second period against the Buffalo Sabres.
He's recorded at least one point in each of the Maple Leafs' regular season games thus far.
With six goals and 15 points, Nylander is the leading scorer for the Maple Leafs, who currently sit third in the Atlantic Division.
Nylander signed a six-year, $45 million contract in 2018 with a cap hit of $6.96 million. Since signing that contract, he's scored 135 goals (including a 40-goal campaign in 2022-23) and 174 assists.
