The Toronto Maple Leafs lost a veteran defenceman to injury on Thursday.
Oliver Ekman-Larsson was banged up on a hit by Jeremy Lauzon late in a game between the Maple Leafs and the Vegas Golden Knights.
Ekman-Larsson fell hard to the ice after the hit and was slow to get up but skated off the ice on his own before heading to the locker room.
The play occurred with less than two minutes to go in regulation, and Ekman-Larsson didn't return for overtime.
No penalty was called on the play.
Maple Leafs head coach Jim Hiller told reporters he didn't have an update on Ekman-Larsson's status after the game.
Ekman-Larsson skated over 15 minutes in the game with zero points and two minor penalties.
