Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Michael Hutchinson has been placed on waivers, per Sportsnet's Chris Johnston.
Joining Hutchinson are Joe Gambardella, Ben Harpur, Kasimir Kaskisuo and Michael McCarron, Johnston reports. Hutchinson re-joined the Leafs in the off-season after signing a two-year, two-way deal worth $1.45 million. The native of Barrie, Ont., put up a 4-9-1 record with a .886 save percentage and 3.66 goals-against average in 15 appearances with the Leafs last season before being traded to the Colorado Avalanche for defenceman Calle Rosen near the end of February.
The Edmonton Oilers also made some roster moves on Saturday. The Oilers announced that they placed forwards Adam Cracknell and Seth Griffith on waivers. Cracknell played with the KHL's Kunlun Red Star last season, putting up 10 goals and 24 points in 52 games. The Prince Albert, Sask., native has a career 21 goals and 43 points in 210 NHL games since the 2010-11 season.
Griffith registered 21 goals and 41 points in 58 games with the AHL's Manitoba Moose during the 2019-20 season. The Wallaceburg, Ont., native has eight goals and 19 points in 79 career NHL games.
The club assigned forward Cooper Marody, defenceman Markus Niemelainen and goaltender Stuart Skinner to their AHL affiliate Bakersfield Condors. Defenceman Ryan Stanton will also report to Bakersfield after being released from his professional tryout.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Red Wings claimed defenceman Christian Djoos, who was placed on waivers by the Anaheim Ducks on Friday, and Gustav Forsling was claimed by the Florida Panthers after he was waived by the Carolina Hurricanes, per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
