Miles Wood has suffered an injury despite not playing in a game this season.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed the forward on the injured reserve for an undisclosed reason.
Wood was called up from the Marlies last Friday, but has yet to get into a game. He was with the team on their road trip and participated in the club's last practice in Utah, Alter added.
The 31-year-old was acquired from the Columbus Blue Jackets the day before the season began as part of the Kirill Marchenko-Matthew Knies trade.
Wood appeared in 54 games for the Blue Jackets in 2025-26, totaling eight goals and six assists for 14 points.
He has been a dependable bottom-six forward throughout his career. He's had five double-digit goal campaigns, including 19- and 17-goal seasons while with the New Jersey Devils.
