It seems the Toronto Maple Leafs will be without William Nylander for a bit longer.
The Maple Leafs placed Nylander on injured reserve on Monday, retroactive to Dec. 27. He has already missed four games with a lower-body injury and is eligible to be activated at any time, but no timeline for his return has been given.
Nylander has 14 goals and a team-leading 41 points in 33 games this season.
Defenceman Marshall Rifai was recalled from the AHL in a corresponding move. He has appeared in two NHL games in his career, both in the 2023-24 season.
