The Toronto Maple Leafs have recalled goaltender Dennis Hildeby from the Toronto Marlies, the club announced Wednesday.
Hildeby, 21, will serve as the team's playoff emergency backup goaltender (EBUG).
Hildeby appeared in just two regular-season contests for the Marlies after spending the majority of his time with Farjestads BK Karlstad of the Swedish Hockey League.
The move comes with regular starter Ilya Samsonov unavailable for Wednesday's Game 4 against the Florida Panthers after suffering an upper-body injury in Game 3 due to a collision with teammate Luke Schenn.
Rookie goaltender Joseph Woll will get the call in net for Game 4 with the Maple Leafs with Matt Murray serving as his backup.
Game 4 is scheduled for Wednesday in Florida and can be seen at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and SN NOW.
