The Toronto Maple Leafs and Calgary Flames announced the first round of prospects who have been reassigned to their junior clubs at training camp on Saturday.
Toronto is sending defencemen Rylan Fellinger (Flint Firebirds, OHL) and Nathan Mayes (Spokane Chiefs, WHL), along with forwards Tyler Hopkins (Kingston Frontenacs, OHL), Harry Nansi (Owen Sound Attack, OHL), Matthew Hlacar (Kitchener Rangers, OHL) and Sam McCue (Brantford Bulldogs, OHL), back to their respective junior teams.
The moves come as Toronto gets set for pre-season action Sunday (Sportsnet ONE and Sportsnet+, 3 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. PT). CHL teams have already started their seasons, so these moves also afford these prospects a chance to get into games with their junior clubs.
Hopkins, Nansi, Hlacar, and Fellinger were all selected by the Leafs in the 2025 NHL Draft.
The Flames, meanwhile, returned forwards Nathan Brisson (Val-d'Or Foreurs), Mael Lavigne (Blainville-Boisbriand Armada) and Kadon McCann (Medicine Hat Tigers) back to their CHL clubs.
All three players were undrafted.
Calgary begins its pre-season schedule on Sunday with split-squad games against the Edmonton Oilers.
